Critical Review and Testing Results of the Detox Product

A Personal Message from Tamara Rubin:

The levels of toxic metals detected in this product are alarmingly high and pose serious health risks, especially when used as intended in a hot bath, considering the potential for transdermal absorption. Given its classification as a personal care item, it is likely illegal under Washington State’s new Toxic-Free Cosmetic Act, which sets a maximum threshold of 1,000 ppb for Lead. Our laboratory tests found this product contains up to 5,000 ppb Lead. I am submitting formal reports to both Washington State and the FDA to investigate regulatory actions, including labeling requirements or potential bans.

This product’s testing results are particularly troubling because it is marketed as a detoxification aid, yet it contains dangerously high levels of heavy metals that it claims to help eliminate from the body. The manufacturer’s assertion that the detoxifying effects are due to transdermal penetration of active ingredients, which may facilitate absorption of heavy metals like Mercury, raises serious safety concerns. If you have been using this product, I strongly advise stopping immediately. Consult your healthcare provider for testing for heavy metal exposure (via urine or blood tests), and consider adopting a food-based detox protocol—one that is affordable, effective, and free of toxic chemicals. Additionally, I encourage reporting this product to the FDA via their official reporting portal. The combination of heavy metal content and misleading detox claims borders on greenwashing and misinformation, which is ethically unacceptable.
