A Comprehensive Review of Bryan Johnson’s Blueprint Matcha and Safe Product Alternatives

Published March 15, 2025 — Saturday

A Personal Message from Tamara Rubin:

In February 2025, we conducted independent, community-funded laboratory testing on Bryan Johnson’s Blueprint Ceremonial Grade Matcha to assess levels of Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, and Arsenic. Our comprehensive report, available at the end of this article, was compared with manufacturer-internal test results published online from a batch tested in December 2024. The comparison shows a remarkable consistency within the margin of error, considering potential batch-to-batch variation. A screenshot from the company’s website displaying their internal test data is included below.

  • The manufacturer’s own testing indicates that their matcha product contains measurable amounts of all four toxic heavy metals—Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, and Arsenic.
  • Our testing platform had a detection threshold of 5 parts per billion (ppb) for Mercury, yet their internal results showed Mercury levels at 3.98 ppb, which is below our detection limit but still noteworthy.
  • Their Arsenic content was approximately 18 ppb, comparable to our measurement of 12 ppb.
  • The Cadmium level was about 17 ppb, close to our observed 15 ppb.
  • Interestingly, the Lead concentration was significantly higher in their tests—almost 98 ppb compared to our finding of 55 ppb, highlighting potential batch variability or differences in testing methods.

Reading these results prompted a bit of amusement, especially after learning Bryan Johnson was recently featured on Stephen Colbert’s show. The discussion included a rather startling anecdote about his and his son’s erectile performance—an unusual topic, but one that underscores the importance of understanding the health implications of chronic low-level Lead exposure. Given the well-established link between persistent Lead exposure and reproductive health issues, it raises questions about whether reducing consumption of products like this matcha might benefit his health and that of his family.

  • It’s crucial to remember that all federal health agencies agree: there is no safe level of Lead exposure, particularly for vulnerable populations like pregnant women and children.
  • Serving size does not mitigate the risks posed by toxicants like Lead, Cadmium, and Mercury, as these substances bioaccumulate over time in the human body.
  • Ingested heavy metals are especially concerning because they tend to build up, causing long-term health issues that may not manifest immediately.

For full transparency, the detailed laboratory report for this product is available at the bottom of this article. While the levels of Toxicants found are legally permissible, legal does not equate to safe or acceptable, especially for children and pregnant women. Most regulatory standards mainly serve to shield corporations from liability rather than prioritize consumer safety.
