Ben and Rose: The Amish Country Music Duo
Known affectionately as the “Amish Country Music Couple”, Ben and Rose continue to share their musical talents through heartfelt performances. A few weeks following their popular cover of the classic country hit “Slowly But Surely”, they released a beautiful new rendition of a Christmas song titled “Circle of Love”. This piece was originally penned by the legendary Dolly Parton and is cherished during the holiday season.
Although I missed the initial release just before Christmas, the message and melody are timeless, making it still very relevant for those with their Christmas trees still adorning their homes. So, it’s not too late to enjoy this heartfelt tribute! Like their previous work, this recording isn’t a live performance but a studio-produced track, complemented by footage of Ben and Rose performing the song live in their own style.
Addressing the Feedback from the First Video
When I shared the original video on Facebook, it naturally attracted some pushback rooted in misconceptions about Amish music traditions. Some comments included:
- “The Amish do not play musical instruments; they only sing, and during weddings, the men perform a kind of chant that’s quite beautiful.”
- “It’s unfortunate that most Amish communities are deprived of music.”
- “They are New Order Amish, which follows different rules than the Old Order Amish.”
In response to the last point, Conrad Fisher clarified: “They are Old Order Amish, and I personally produced this video. I know the details.” Fisher’s involvement was at Ragamuffin Hall in McCoysville, Pennsylvania—a historic venue housed in an old church built in 1871. It appears that this video was recorded at the same location and possibly during the same recording session.
