My outdoor cannabis plants are almost, but not quite, ready to harvest. The weather is predicting a hard freeze in a couple of days. My question is to harvest or not to harvest? Will a frost or freeze harm cannabis plants? Should I harvest now or am I OK to wait? Thank you.
The short answer is yes, you should harvest now if there is a credible threat of an imminent frost or freeze. Will a freeze harm cannabis plants? Yes. The lower temperatures will affect cell structure.
Colder temperatures also often affect the plant’s color. For instance, some strains at lower temperatures will develop a purple color. This is at cold, but not freezing temperatures. If that temperature dips below zero, the plant will likely turn black.
