Does Burnt Weed Lose Its Potency?

,

I was decarbing my weed in the oven and accidentally burnt it. My question is, will burnt weed lose its potency?  Can I save any of this or do I need to trash it and start over?

The short answer is yes.  Burning your weed will cause it to lose potency.  As to whether anything is salvageable that will depend on how much and how badly it is burnt.

So you DO NOT want to burn your cooking weed if you can avoid it.  Not only will you render the THC impotent, you will also burn off the CBD, the CBG, and a any number of other medicinal cannabinoids and
.  Each of these compounds burns off at different temperatures, and nobody seems to know that exact magic number, but if your weed is burnt, you have definitely surpassed it.

When cooking with cannabis, a good general rule of thumb is to use a lower temperature for a longer perior than a higher temperature for a shorter time.

Another consideration?  Burnt cannabis is not going to do the
any favors.

You might be able to salvage some, if it is not totally burnt and charred.  I would augment with with more cannabis that did not get overly cook, but you may be able to extract some potency.

On the other hand, if you truly have burnt weed, meaning VERY dark or even charred, use it in your compost pile, or throw it out, as it won’t have much left to give.
