Understanding Door Handing Detection
If you’ve recently installed your Revolo lock, it’s essential to perform the door handing detection process. This step ensures the lock recognizes whether your door is right-handed or left-handed, which is crucial for correct locking and unlocking operations. Without this setup, the lock might operate in reverse or fail to respond properly to commands from the keypad. To correctly perform door handing detection:
- Remove the battery cover and insert three AA batteries. The lock requires four batteries for normal operation, but initially, only three are necessary to begin the process.
- Locate the small pinhole marked RES beneath the battery compartment.
- Take a pin, paperclip, or the reset tool provided with your lock, and gently insert it into the RES pinhole. Press and hold the button until you hear a click sound indicating activation.
- While holding the reset pin in place, insert the fourth battery into the compartment. Continue holding the pin until you hear a long beep and observe the latch bolt extend fully, confirming the process is successful.
- Release the pin and remove it from the hole. Your door handing detection setup is now complete.
How to Change Your Default or Existing Master Code
Your Revolo keypad lock is initially set with a default Master Code, typically 12345678. For security reasons, it is highly recommended to change this code immediately after installation. The Master Code grants access to modify lock settings, add or remove User Codes, and unlock the door physically or electronically. To update your Master Code:
- Press the REVOLO button twice on the keypad.
- Enter the current Master Code. Then, press the REVOLO button again and wait for a long green indicator light.
- Press the key 1 to initiate the code change process. Wait for a long green flash.
- Input your preferred new Master Code, which can be between 4 and 10 digits. Press the REVOLO button, and wait for a long green flash indicating successful entry.
- Re-enter the new Master Code and press the REVOLO button once more. The lock will flash green, confirming the update has been successfully stored.
Steps to Add a User Code
Adding User Codes allows multiple individuals to access your property without sharing the Master Code. You can program up to 20 unique User Codes, each a 4-10 digit combination. To add a User Code:
- Press the REVOLO button twice, then enter your current Master Code. Press the REVOLO button again and wait for the long green light.
- Press key 2, then wait for another long green flash.
- Enter the new User Code, followed by pressing the REVOLO button. Wait for a green flash confirming the code has been accepted.
- Re-enter the User Code and press the REVOLO button to finalize the addition. The lock will flash green, indicating the new code is active and ready for use.
How to Remove a User Code
If you need to revoke access for a specific user, removing their code is straightforward:
- Press the REVOLO button twice, then input your current Master Code. Press the REVOLO button once to proceed.
- Wait for the green indicator light, then press key 3 to delete a User Code. The lock will flash green to confirm readiness.
- Enter the specific User Code you wish to delete, then press the REVOLO button. The lock will flash green again, indicating successful removal.
- Test the deleted User Code to ensure it no longer grants access—if it doesn’t unlock, the removal was successful.
Enabling and Disabling Automatic Locking
The Auto Lock feature automatically secures your door 30 seconds after it closes, adding an extra layer of security. To enable this feature:
- Press the REVOLO button twice, then enter your Master Code. Press the REVOLO button and wait for a long green light.
- Press key 5 and wait for a long green flash.
- Press key 1 followed by the REVOLO button. The lock will flash green, confirming auto lock is activated.
To disable Auto Lock, follow these steps:
- Press the REVOLO button and enter your Master Code. Press the REVOLO button, then key 5 and key 2. Press the REVOLO button again to cancel the feature.
Managing Vacation Mode
Vacation Mode temporarily disables all User Codes, providing a secure way to prevent unauthorized access when you’re away. To activate Vacation Mode:
- Press the REVOLO button twice. Enter your Master Code, press the REVOLO button once, and wait for the green indicator.
- Press key 6, then wait for a long green flash. Finalize by pressing the REVOLO button. The lock will flash, indicating Vacation Mode is active.
To deactivate Vacation Mode, simply enter your Master Code on the keypad, and the lock will restore normal operation.
Resetting Your Revolo Electronic Keypad Lock
If your lock begins to malfunction or if you’ve forgotten the Master Code, performing a factory reset can resolve issues. Keep in mind, this process erases all custom settings, returning your lock to its original state. To reset:
- Ensure the door is open and unlocked.
- Remove the battery cover and locate the small reset button labeled RES beneath the battery pack.
- Using the reset tool or a paperclip, press and hold the RES button.
- While holding the button, remove one battery from the compartment. Continue holding the reset button until you hear a beep—a sign that the reset is complete. The process typically takes around 3 seconds.
After reset, you will need to reprogram the lock, including setting a new Master Code and user codes as needed.
