This is not an attack; it is a sincere plea for accountability and change.
Since Truvani Co-Founder Vani Hari, who champions the cause of cleaner ingredients, has not responded to concerns about the presence of toxicants in her products, I have taken the liberty to update this chart and felt it was the right moment to share it again.
While I recognize that no one can champion every single cause simultaneously—especially in activism and advocacy—it is disheartening to see someone advocating for healthier food options, such as eliminating artificial food dyes, yet still producing and marketing products that test positive for significant levels of toxic substances. This contradiction highlights a flawed system that needs addressing.
We must rally behind our activists, supporting their efforts so they do not feel compelled to compromise their standards or sell products that conflict with the principles they stand for, simply to sustain their work financially.
Manufacturing products that contain harmful chemicals contradicts the very essence of advocating for safer, cleaner goods. When essential checks and balances are bypassed, it undermines the integrity of the movement for health-conscious choices.
Food dyes are detrimental; so are toxic metals like Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, and Mercury. These toxicants are interconnected and must be evaluated collectively rather than in isolation.
For example, one of my sons experiences life-threatening allergic reactions—severe hives that can block his airway—in response to red food dye. These reactions are linked to his compromised immune system, which was damaged due to acute Lead poisoning he suffered as a toddler. Here is an article with photos documenting an incident where he was hospitalized after drinking a pink bubble tea, illustrating how serious these issues can be.
Following an interview on Instagram, I asked Vani (also known as @thefoodbabe) what she would like to see tested. She suggested Froot Loops, a popular cereal. It’s understandable that her followers—many of whom belong to the Lead Safe Mama community—have nominated her products for testing as well.
Vani, we admire your passion and your good intentions. We wholeheartedly support your mission to protect children’s health. However, it’s time to embrace the #KnowBetterDoBetter philosophy by either reformulating your marketing strategies or creating genuinely cleaner products. Your standards should match those you hold other companies to, ensuring consistency and integrity.
Please, let’s work together to bring about real change—your leadership can make a difference.
