Amish Family Brandenberger’s New Year Musical Tradition

Celebrating the New Year with the Brandenberger Family

Following my recent post about Amish Country music videos, many of you pointed out the Brandenberger family from northern Indiana. I recall discovering their videos a few years ago but had since forgotten about them. Initially, I was uncertain whether they were truly Amish or perhaps an “Amish-inspired” family—adopting Amish cultural traits while possibly belonging to a different church or community. However, after hearing from several of you that they are indeed Amish, I am inclined to believe so.

It’s worth noting that the surname Brandenberger is associated with the Amish community in Allen County, Indiana, which adds credibility to this identification. While I don’t have extensive details about their personal story or background, their appearance and lifestyle strongly suggest they embody what many consider to be “modern Amish”—adhering to traditional values yet engaging with contemporary platforms.

This musical family has gained popularity through their YouTube channel, which features dozens of live performances and musical recordings. It’s somewhat uncommon for Amish families to maintain such a visible presence on social media, which makes their channel particularly noteworthy. Nonetheless, I’ve found myself increasingly intrigued by such families who blend old-world traditions with modern technology.

In this particular video, they perform a heartfelt rendition of the Scottish classic song Auld Lang Syne. They describe their style as “Bluegrass with family harmony,” offering a unique, soulful take on this widely recognized tune. I believe you’ll find their performance both charming and inspiring. Wishing everyone a joyful and hopeful start to the New Year!
